Eco Church is a programme run by A Rocha UK which provides a framework of support for individual churches in caring for God’s earth.  www.ecochurch.arocha.org.uk

The Diocese of Chelmsford has had an environmental policy since 2004 and has set a key target of being Carbon Net Zero by 2030. To support this target, each Deanery has a Deanery Environmental Advocate who can encourage and advise churches on how to complete and initial survey ad get involved with Eco Church.

The North Hinckford Benefice's first target is to get all fifteen churches registered and take the Eco Survey. This is a summative assessment of where each church is at and a good baseline from which to build. Our Advocate is Patsy Maile and she has been supporting Sharon Hutton-Mayson in working with the individual churches to achieve this.

To the delight of Bishop Roger who is the Diocesan lead for the environment, in early 2025 this target has almost been reached. Eco Church focuses on five areas:- Worship and Teaching, Buildings and Energy, Land and Nature, Community and Global Engagement and Lifestyle providing interests and skill sets to suit all.   This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in environmental issues and with a little time to spare to engage. Speak to your Churchwarden or contact Sharon on 07773644326 to discuss Eco Church further.
